House sitting

The pet sitter comes to your home and stays with your animal, in many cases overnight too. Your animal keeps its routines, smells and spaces, and doesn't have to move anywhere.

It's the best fit for cats, older animals or those with medical needs, homes with several pets and species that need a controlled environment, such as birds and reptiles.

What it usually includes

  • Presence at your home for the agreed time, including nights if arranged
  • Meals, fresh water, litter and cleaning of the animal's areas
  • Walks and play
  • Small agreed home tasks, such as collecting the post or watering the plants
  • Updates with photos

Prices are set by the professionals and you see them on the profile, including extras and fees, before you book.

How to choose well

  1. 1Make clear in writing how many hours a day the sitter will be there
  2. 2Note routines, food, medication and emergency contacts in the Pet Passport
  3. 3Prepare a spare set of keys and explain alarms and appliances
  4. 4Agree what to do if something in the house breaks

Frequently asked questions

Can the sitter bring their own animal?

Only if you both agree. By default, no: mention it in the booking notes.

How is it different from drop-in visits?

Visits usually last 30–60 minutes, once or several times a day. House sitting means a longer presence, often including the night.

Do I need to tidy the house?

It's enough that the animal's areas are accessible and the instructions are clear. Say which rooms the sitter shouldn't enter.
